Delicious Prawn Biryani by Zaika Ghar

🛒 Ingredients

For Rice:

  • 2 cups basmati rice (soaked for 30 minutes)
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 cloves

For Prawn Masala:

  • 400g cleaned prawns
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 medium onion (sliced)
  • 2 medium tomatoes (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp yogurt
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp biryani masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander
  • 2 tbsp mint leaves

🔥 Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Rice

  1. Boil water with salt, cloves, and bay leaf.
  2. Add soaked rice and cook till 80% done.
  3. Drain and keep aside.

Step 2: Prepare Prawn Masala

  1. Heat oil in a pan, add sliced onions and fry until golden brown.
  2. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until soft.
  3. Stir in yogurt, red chili powder, turmeric, biryani masala, and salt.
  4. Add prawns and cook for 5–7 minutes until they turn pink and tender.
  5. Sprinkle lemon juice, mint, and coriander.

Step 3: Layering

  1. In a heavy-bottomed pot, spread a layer of rice, then prawn masala, then rice again.
  2. Add mint leaves and fried onions on top.
  3. Cover and cook on low flame (dum) for 10 minutes.
